Mohammed Abdullah Jailed for Six Years Over Bournemouth Beach Toilet Rape

A teenager has been jailed for six years and nine months after being convicted of raping a 19-year-old woman inside a portable toilet on a seafront.

Mohammed Abdullah, 19, from the West Drayton area in Middlesex, appeared at Bournemouth Crown Court for sentencing after a jury found him guilty of rape and sexual assault by penetration.

The attack took place on Bournemouth seafront in the early hours of 6 July 2025 after the defendant gained the victim's trust and offered her a lift home on his e-bike. Alongside his custodial sentence, the court ordered that Abdullah be placed on the sex offenders register for life.

During the trial, prosecutor Mark Eldridge outlined the timeline of events leading up to the assault. The court heard that the complainant had been out socialising with a friend on the night of the attack, visiting establishments firstly in Charminster before moving on to Bar So in Bournemouth.

After consuming a fair amount to drink, the two friends separated and headed off in different directions.

As the young woman began walking home alone along the seafront, she encountered Abdullah, who was accompanied by a group of friends.

The defendant offered to transport her home on his e-bike, which she accepted in an effort to get home safely.

The court was told that during the journey the pair stopped at a portable toilet on the seafront, where Abdullah sexually assaulted and raped the complainant.

Detailing the ordeal, Mr Eldridge stated that the victim wriggled and attempted to fight her attacker, before coming to the realization that if she let it happen the assault would be over quicker.

The prosecution further detailed that Abdullah kissed the woman aggressively, causing her to suffer a burst lip as she pulled away. Following the attack, the defendant rode off on his e-bike, leaving the victim stranded.

In the immediate aftermath, the complainant took off her shoes so she could run from the area.

She flagged down passers-by and asked to use their mobile phones to call her mother. After informing her mother of what had happened, the police were contacted and a major Dorset Police investigation was launched.

Following the sentencing hearing, Senior Prosecutor Samantha Wright, from the Crown Prosecution Service, condemned Abdullah's actions, stating that he had exploited a young woman who was vulnerable and simply trying to get home safely.

Ms Wright noted that having gained her trust by offering a lift, the defendant subjected her to a terrifying sexual attack, emphasising that violence against women and girls has no place in the community.

Detective Inspector Shaun Inkpen, of Dorset Police’s Major Crime Investigation Team, commended the victim's resilience following what he described as a challenging investigation.

Det Insp Inkpen acknowledged the bravery of the young woman in coming forward to report such a horrific and terrifying sexual attack, confirming that her evidence played a crucial role in securing Abdullah's conviction and custodial sentence.

The officer added that throughout the investigation and subsequent criminal justice process the victim had shown immense strength, courage and resilience, expressing hope that the outcome demonstrates the force's commitment to supporting victims of sexual violence and holding perpetrators to account.
