Predatory Rapist Sentenced to 12 Years After Sexually Assaulting Second Woman While on Police Bail
Seven women reported his sexual behaviour to police before he humiliated & degraded two victims. This entitled offender forced them to face a trial ordeal.
A 30-year-old man who raped one woman and went on to sexually assault another while released on police bail has been handed an extended custodial sentence at Swansea Crown Court. Olukanyinsola Odebode was found guilty following a trial of one count of rape and two counts of assault by penetration. Judge Huw Rees passed a 12-year extended sentence, comprising nine years in custody and a three-year licence period, after deeming him to be a dangerous offender who poses a high risk of serious harm to the public.
The offences occurred between June 2024 and September 2025 across two Welsh police force areas. Odebode, of Gainsborough Road, Cefn Golau, Tredegar, committed the initial offences against the first victim within the Gwent Police area. Following his arrest and release on bail, he went on to commit a further sexual assault against a second woman within the Dyfed-Powys Police jurisdiction.
Prosecutor Mark Wyeth KC told the court that the defendant humiliated and degraded his victims, causing life-altering consequences. The court heard that Odebode maintained a denial of any wrongdoing throughout, forcing both victims to give evidence at trial. A pre-sentence report compiled by the Probation Service noted the defendant's complete rejection of the jury's verdicts and highlighted a total lack of insight into his actions, concluding that his behavior was underpinned by attitudes of entitlement.
During the sentencing hearing, it emerged that since 2019, seven other women had reported concerns regarding Odebode's sexual behaviour to police, involving allegations of rape, indecent exposure, sexual assault, and stalking. While those matters were investigated by authorities, none resulted in convictions. Odebode had no prior convictions recorded against him before his trial.

Defense advocate Matt Murphy stated it was to be hoped that the defendant would develop the insight into his offending while serving his custodial term. Sentencing, Judge Rees described Odebode as a sexually precocious person who had caused a profound effect on his victims, concluding that an extended sentence was required to mitigate the danger he presents to women.
Under the terms of the extended sentence, Odebode must serve at least two-thirds of the nine-year custodial portion before the Parole Board can evaluate whether he is safe for release. Upon any eventual release, he will remain subject to licence conditions for a further three years and has been ordered to register as a sex offender for life.
