Three men have been jailed for a combined total of nearly 30 years following the shooting of a 15-year-old boy in a Birmingham park.

Lamar Anderson, Jeheim Wilson, and Kaine Dowe appeared at Birmingham Crown Court on Friday, 1 May, for sentencing regarding the incident in Balsall Heath.
The court heard that the victim was shot in the back while riding a bicycle through George Street Park at approximately 22:00 on 2 August last year.
The shooting followed an earlier incident of disorder involving the brandishing of weapons which occurred thirty minutes prior near the junction of Mary Street and George Street.
Lamar Anderson, 22, of Heeley Road, Birmingham, pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Anderson was sentenced to 16 years in custody with a further three years to be served on licence.
Jeheim Wilson, 25, of Lapworth Grove, was sentenced to six-and-a-half years’ imprisonment after admitting possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
Kaine Dowe, 23, also of Lapworth Grove, received a custodial sentence of six years after pleading guilty to the same charge.
The prosecution stated that the 15-year-old victim was an innocent bystander who had not participated in the preceding fight.

The defendants were seeking a man involved in the earlier disorder and targeted the boy after he was seen speaking to that individual.
The teenager sustained serious and life-changing injuries as a result of being ambushed and shot in the back.
An investigation by the West Midlands Police Major Crime Unit resulted in the identification and arrest of the three men following a review of local CCTV.
The sentencing judge noted that the incident represented a significant escalation of violence involving firearm offences in a public space.

All three defendants were remanded into custody immediately following the conclusion of the hearing at Birmingham Crown Court.
