A 20-year-old man has been jailed for more than five years following a "frenzied" machete attack that unfolded in front of horrified commuters during a summer rush hour in West London.
Aidan Watts, of the Cremorne Estate in Kensington and Chelsea, was sentenced at Inner London Crown Court on Thursday, May 7, to five years and one month imprisonment. He will serve an additional year on licence. Watts had previously pleaded guilty to Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH) following a British Transport Police (BTP) investigation.
An "Ambush" on the Platform
The incident occurred on June 18, 2025, at Imperial Wharf railway station. Just after 5:20 pm, emergency services were called to reports of a stabbing on the crowded platform.
Investigators established that the 20-year-old victim and the attackers had unknowingly travelled on the same busy train. As the victim exited the carriage and headed toward the station exit, he was spotted by Watts and two associates: Jakada Joseph, 22, and Stefan Kosavac-Godart, 19.

The trio launched a targeted ambush, chasing the victim down the platform. After tripping him, Watts produced a machete with a distinctive 40cm red blade and delivered multiple strikes.
Emergency Response
Paramedics and BTP officers arrived to find the victim suffering from life-threatening injuries to his abdomen, thigh, and buttocks. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency surgery, where medical staff managed to stabilise his condition.
While the victim fought for his life, detectives tracked the group using CCTV and witness testimony. Footage captured Watts discarding clothing in a residential estate shortly after the attack. Police later recovered the red-bladed machete hidden near maintenance units on the estate.

Sentences and Convictions
In addition to Watts' prison sentence, his accomplices were convicted of affray:
Stefan Kosavac-Godart was given a conditional discharge following time already served on remand.
Jakada Joseph awaits sentencing
"What was a normal summer’s evening at a busy West London station very quickly escalated into serious violence," said BTP Detective Chief Inspector Paul Attwell. "The group outnumbered him before Watts launched a spontaneous but targeted frenzied attack on the platform."
DCI Attwell credited the "tireless" work of detectives, the Metropolitan Police, and the Crown Prosecution Service in securing the convictions, reiterating that violence on the rail network "won't be tolerated."
