🔴 Two Leeds Men Jailed for 17 Years Over Abuse Of Teens
Leeds court delivers justice as two predators face 17 years for heinous crimes against teens. A chilling case of grooming and abuse exposed and justice served.
Two child groomers who exploited vulnerable young girls have been jailed in Leeds.
Delroy Scott, 59, of St Alban Crescent, Leeds, and Yusuf Egberongbe, 67, of Shakespeare Lawn, Leeds, wetesentenced to a combined 17 years in prison for a series of grave sexual offences against three teenage victims who they groomed with drugs, alcohol and cash before subjecting them to serious sexual abuse.
The convictions, were secured on 11 August 2025 following a trial at Leeds Crown Court.
The investigation, spearheaded by the Leeds District Safeguarding Unit, was initiated in August 2021 after one victim disclosed to a family member the abuse she and another girl had endured. Egberongbe was arrested on the day the report was made, with Scott apprehended the following month. A third victim came forward in January 2022, revealing she had been sexually assaulted by Scott prior to his arrest for the earlier offences. This disclosure added further weight to the case, highlighting a pattern of predatory behaviour.
Evidence presented during the trial detailed how the offenders exploited their victims’ vulnerabilities, offering lifts, alcohol, drugs, and cash to exert influence and control. The abuse, described as calculated and repeated, targeted girls at a formative stage of their lives.
Scott was convicted on five counts of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a girl aged 13-15, alongside charges of attempting non-penetrative sexual activity with a girl of the same age, engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child, inciting sexual activity, and sexual assault on a female. Egberongbe, meanwhile, was found guilty of inciting sexual activity with a girl aged 13-15, engaging in non-penetrative sexual activity with a girl of that age, and arranging or facilitating the commission of a child sexual offence. He was acquitted of an additional charge of inciting sexual activity.
On 24 October, Scott received a 12-year sentence, while Egberongbe was ordered to serve five years, with both men mandated to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life. Scott was further subjected to a lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order, reflecting the severity of his crimes.
Detective Constable Lynsey Ibbotson, of the Leeds District Safeguarding Unit, outlined the predatory tactics employed by the offenders, noting that their actions would likely have persisted had the victims not come forward. She praised the courage of the victims in reporting the crimes and expressed hope that the sentences would aid their recovery. The officer also reaffirmed the force’s dedication to supporting victims of child sexual exploitation through specialised units, ensuring perpetrators face the full consequences of their actions.
Both men will remain on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely, with Scott’s additional Sexual Harm Prevention Order imposing stringent restrictions to prevent further offending.
