Depraved Predator Jailed over Sick Plot to Rape Child

A depraved predator who actively sought to rape a child has been locked up for nine-and-a-half years after police smashed his sick online plot and uncovered a huge stash of indecent images.

Adam Khan, 30, from Great Barr, has been jailed for nine years and six months at Birmingham Crown Court for child sex offences.

He pleaded guilty to arranging or facilitating the rape of a child under the age of 13 and the distribution of indecent images of children.

Khan was arrested in Great Barr in July last year after officers from the Force Priorities Team intercepted a meeting he had arranged with a person he believed could facilitate an encounter with a child for sexual abuse.

The Force Priorities Team had previously established that Khan had been interacting online with others to find a child he could sexually abuse.

A search of digital devices seized following his arrest uncovered almost 1,000 indecent images and videos of children, as well as evidence that he had distributed such material.

The offences took place between June and July last year.

Detective Sergeant Nick McCullogh, from the Force Priorities Team, said: “Khan was intent on meeting a child who he could sexually abuse. We were able to stop his disgusting plan, and uncover the full extent of his offending, to ensure he has been sent to jail for many years.”
