🔴 DELIVERY DRIVER JAILED FOR PREDATORY ASSAULT ON CUSTOMER
A delivery driver from Manchester has been sentenced to more than two years in prison after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman while making a food drop-off in Northwich.
Rana Jahangir, 25, of Collington Close, was convicted of one count of sexual assault following a trial at Chester Crown Court which concluded on Friday, 27 February 2026.
The court heard that on 2 September 2025, Jahangir arrived at an address on Shipbrook Road, Rudheath, to deliver an order but remained at the property after the transaction was completed.
The defendant grabbed the woman from behind and subjected her to a sustained assault, including non-consensual hugging and kissing that lasted for over a minute.
The victim repeatedly instructed Jahangir to stop, but he continued the assault until eventually leaving the premises.
Although the victim initially reported the incident only to the delivery firm, she was encouraged by friends to contact Cheshire Police the following day.
Upon his arrest, Jahangir maintained a defence that the contact was consensual; however, this was directly contradicted by mobile phone footage that had surreptitiously recorded part of the encounter.
His Honour Judge Everett sentenced Jahangir to two years and four months’ imprisonment, noting the breach of trust involved in a service role that requires access to private homes.
In addition to the custodial term, Jahangir has been ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for a period of ten years.
A restraining order was also imposed, prohibiting the defendant from having any contact with the victim for an indefinite period.
The conviction marks another case where digital evidence—specifically personal mobile recordings—has proved pivotal in dismantling a "consent" defence in sexual offence trials.
Legal observers noted that the speed of the investigation and trial reflects a renewed focus on "high-harm" offenders operating within the gig economy.
