Brazilian National Jailed 18 Years for Raping Woman and Child
Wesley Brito, 47, has been sentenced to 18 years in prison at Swindon Crown Court after pleading guilty to historical rape and sexual offences against two victims.
A 47-year-old man has been jailed for almost two decades after pleading guilty to numerous counts of rape and sexual offences against two female victims.
Wesley Brito, a Brazilian national formerly residing in the Redhouse area of Swindon, appeared at Swindon Crown Court on Wednesday, July 29, for his sentencing hearing.
The court was told that the offences took place over a number of years and involved an adult woman and a young child, both of whom were known to the defendant.
Brito admitted to a comprehensive indictment regarding the young victim, pleading guilty to multiple sexual assaults of a child under 13, five counts of sexual activity with a child, rape and attempted rape of a child, sexual assault by penetration, and engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child.

In addition to these charges, he also pleaded guilty to the rape of the second victim, a woman who is now aged in her 40s.
The court heard that the historical abuse was first brought to the attention of Wiltshire Police in February 2025.
The investigation was initially launched after the adult victim disclosed the abuse to a third party. Several months later, in June 2025, the adult victim formally reported the offences to officers herself.
In the months following her disclosure, the young victim also came forward to authorities to provide an account of Brito’s offences against her.

Following the police investigation by the Child Abuse Investigation Team (CAIT), Brito was formally charged with the extensive list of sexual offences, culminating in Wednesday's court appearance where the presiding judge sentenced him to 18 years' imprisonment.
Alongside his lengthy custodial term, Brito was placed on the Sex Offenders' Register and made the subject of both an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a restraining order.
Speaking after the sentencing, investigating officer Detective Constable Chloe Smith stated that Brito's crimes have had a devastating impact on the pair.
She commended the victims for their remarkable bravery, courage, and strength in coming forward to support the police investigation.
Detective Constable Smith acknowledged that reporting sexual offences can be an extremely difficult process, noting the immense bravery demonstrated by both individuals.
She expressed hope that the judicial outcome would serve to reassure the public that reports of sexual offences are taken seriously by the force and that all victims will be listened to.
