Nottingham Man Jailed for Seven and a Half Years After City Centre Stabbing and Knife Rampage 

A man who chased and stabbed another man in Nottingham city centre before walking through the streets carrying a Stanley knife has been jailed for seven years and six months after admitting wounding with intent and a series of offences arising from the attack and subsequent police enquiries.

Shaki Robinson, 49, of Radford Road, Nottingham, was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on 30 July after pleading guilty to wounding with intent, possession of a knife in a public place, assaulting an emergency worker, possession with intent to supply cocaine, together with offences of possessing heroin and cannabis identified through subsequent police enquiries.

The court heard the attack followed an argument outside a fast food restaurant in the early hours of 22 November 2025.

A 21-year-old man and his girlfriend had been waiting for an Uber in Angel Row when they saw Robinson behaving aggressively towards a woman. After the couple intervened, Robinson turned his attention towards them before pursuing the man through the city centre.

CCTV footage showed Robinson repeatedly slashing at the victim with a Stanley knife in Beastmarket Hill as the man attempted to escape. The victim sustained slash wounds to his lower back, shoulder and cheek.

Police officers arrived within minutes and found the injured man sitting on the ground. Enquiries established that Robinson had continued walking along Angel Row and into Hurt’s Yard while still carrying the knife.

Officers, assisted by members of the public, caught up with Robinson in Wollaton Street. During the arrest he resisted officers and punched one police officer to the head.

Investigators later recovered the Stanley knife after CCTV captured Robinson throwing it to the ground shortly before he was detained.

A search following his arrest uncovered wraps of suspected Class A drugs concealed inside a sock in his pocket, together with a quantity of cash in notes and coins. Further investigation resulted in additional drug charges being brought against him.

Although the case had been listed for trial, Robinson admitted the offences only days before proceedings were due to begin, entering guilty pleas to wounding with intent, possession of a bladed article in a public place, assaulting an emergency worker and possession with intent to supply cocaine. He also admitted possessing heroin and cannabis.

Following sentence, Detective Constable Natalie Gooderham of Nottinghamshire Police said: “Robinson not only violently attacked the victim but proceeded to walk through the city centre brandishing a knife.

“It must have been frightening to witness and we’re grateful to the members of the public who bravely intervened by assisting officers to both detain Robinson and recover the knife.
