Russell Brand Guilty of Rape and Three Further Historical Sexual Offences
Disgraced star faces years behind bars while Met probes fresh claims as a Southwark Crown Court jury convicts on Brand of rape and three sexual assaults.
In Breaking News, a Southwark Crown Court jury has returned guilty verdicts against comedian and media personality Russell Brand on charges of rape and three sexual assaults, following weeks of high-profile proceedings.
The jury convicted Brand on four specific counts relating to historical sexual offences: the 2009 anal rape of a woman at his home in Hampstead, alongside three counts of sexual assault occurring at a Soho bar in 2004, Choice FM radio studios, and a Channel 4 project in 2009.
The panel of eight men and four women cleared the 51-year-old on the three remaining charges, returning not guilty verdicts on two counts of rape and one count of attempted indecent assault.
Brand, who denied all allegations throughout the six-week trial stood quietly in the dock as the decisions were delivered.
Mr Justice Bennathan has remanded the defendant in custody ahead of sentencing, which has been formally scheduled to take place at Southwark Crown Court on Monday the ninth of November.
Meanwhile, Metropolitan Police have confirmed that Brand remains under active investigation regarding separate allegations of rape made by two further women, with files already submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service.
That’s all for this report, but until our next one, stay tuned, stay informed but most of all stay safe.
