On the night of September 5, 2022, Chris Kaba was fatally shot by a police marksman after a high-speed pursuit through the streets of London. At the time, Kaba was driving an Audi Q8 that had been flagged as involved in a shooting in Brixton the previous night. Despite repeated orders to surrender, Kaba chose to ram police vehicles in an attempt to escape, using his car as a weapon. The officer, fearing for his and his colleagues’ lives, made the decision to shoot, a decision that was later deemed totally lawful by the court.
Two Shootings in Six Days: A Clear Pattern of Violence
It has now emerged that Kaba had been involved in not one, but two separate shootings within a six-day period. On August 30, 2022, just days before his death, Kaba brazenly opened fire in a crowded nightclub in Hackney during a bloody feud over control of a profitable county lines drug network. CCTV footage captured the moment Kaba chased his rival, Brandon Malutshi, firing a volley of bullets, one of which struck Malutshi in the leg. Despite this shocking attack, Malutshi survived and discharged himself from the hospital against medical advice.
Kaba’s associates, Shemiah Bell and Marcus Pottinger, were later convicted for their roles in the nightclub shooting, while Kaba himself, had he not been killed, would have faced trial for attempted murder. This incident highlighted Kaba’s deep involvement in violent gang activity and his role in a vicious war for control over drug distribution.
Six days later, Kaba was implicated in yet another shooting incident, this time in Brixton. Evidence now reveals that Kaba had gunshot residue on his sleeve and a balaclava in his car at the time of his death, strongly linking him to the Brixton shooting. The vehicle Kaba was driving, an Audi Q8, had been identified as the getaway car used in the attack. Despite knowing the risks of driving such a vehicle while evading police, Kaba chose to engage in a deadly game of cat and mouse with armed officers, ignoring multiple clear warnings to stop.
The Officer’s Decision: A Clear Threat Ignored
During the trial, the jury was tasked solely with determining whether the officer’s actions were justified during the moments leading up to Kaba’s death. They were not informed of Kaba’s extensive criminal record, gang affiliations, or involvement in the two shooting incidents. Instead, the focus was on whether, given the immediate threat posed by Kaba’s actions, the officer acted appropriately.
Kaba had numerous opportunities to comply with police orders, and simply get out is the car and put his hands as any reasonable person would obviously have done, Instead, he chose to ram police vehicles, an act that placed the officers’ lives in immediate danger. The court ruled that the officer’s decision to open fire was justified, as Kaba’s use of his car as a weapon left the officer with no other choice. Again, had Kaba simply complied and exited the vehicle as instructed, his death would have been totally avoided.
Kaba’s Criminal History: A Shocking Pattern of Violence and Domestic Abuse
While the jury was not privy to Kaba’s violent past, the details that have now emerged paint a very different picture from the one his family and protesters have presented. Nicknamed ‘Mad Itch’, Kaba had a long history of violent behaviour dating back to his early teens. Convicted and imprisoned multiple times for affray, possession of knives, and firearms-related offences, he was deeply entrenched in gang life. Kaba had also been under a domestic violence protection order, preventing him from contacting the mother of his unborn child after a series of violent outbursts.
Kaba’s relationship with his girlfriend had been fraught with violence and control, culminating in her seeking legal protection from him. The court had granted a domestic violence protection order after evidence was presented of the emotional and physical harm she endured at his hands. These shocking revelations highlight the abusive and volatile nature of Kaba’s private life, further debunking the notion that he was an innocent victim.
These facts, combined with his involvement in two shootings in less than a week, make it clear that Kaba was not the innocent victim some have portrayed him to be. The jury, however, was only presented with a carefully sanitized version of Kaba’s life, omitting his dangerous affiliations and prior offenses. This decision to withhold information was made to ensure the officer’s actions were judged solely on the circumstances of the fatal shooting itself.
Threats Against Officer Blake: The Aftermath
In the wake of the shooting, it was revealed that Kaba’s gang, the ‘67’, placed a£10,000bounty on the head of the officer who shot him. The threats against Blake and his family were so severe that he has been forced to live under constant protection, fearing for his life. The gang’s actions demonstrate the violent underworld that Kaba was a part of, further justifying the officer’s actions in neutralizing a very real and present threat.
Superintendent Ross McKibbin, head of Counter Terrorism in the Metropolitan Police, expressed grave concern for the officer’s safety, stating, “In nearly 30 years of service, I have never been more concerned about the welfare of an officer or the likelihood of them or their family coming to serious harm as I am about Martyn Blake in this case.”
The Reality of Chris Kaba’s Death: A Consequence of His Own Choices
Chris Kaba’s death, while tragic, was the direct result of his own very poor choices. He had the opportunity to surrender peacefully but chose to escalate the situation, endangering the lives of police officers in the process. The evidence now points to his involvement in multiple violent crimes, including two shootings in less than a week, which would likely have resulted in his conviction anyway even if he had lived.
Family Sought to Cover-Up Kaba’s Violent History.
It has also been made public that Chris Kaba’s family and those protesting his death, aggressively sought to deliberately and completely create a totally false narrative in order to mislead the public by omitting and seeking to have suppressed these highly relevant and salient facts about Chris Kaba’s true character and extensive violent criminal history. Instead attempting to portray Kaba as a totally innocent victim of police brutality rather than the actual highly dangerous criminal who posed a significant threat to society he actually was. The truth, now fully revealed, shows that Kaba’s death was the consequence of his own actions, and the officer who shot him acted fully in the line of duty to protect himself and his fellow colleagues.
