Birmingham Drug Dealer Jailed for Eight Years After Loaded Handgun Found in Crashed Car
Armed drug dealer caught with loaded handgun and Class A stash after police pursuit and crash is unmasked by DNA and jailed following Forest of Dean investigation
A Birmingham man has been sentenced to eight years’ imprisonment after admitting a series of drug trafficking and firearms offences, including possession of a loaded handgun with intent to endanger life, following two linked incidents in Gloucestershire.
Cumar Cumar, 26, of Eastwood Road, Balsall Heath, was sentenced at Gloucester Crown Court on Tuesday 24 March after previously entering guilty pleas to three counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, namely heroin and cocaine, together with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, dangerous driving, possession of criminal property, and possession of a bladed article.

The court heard that the case arose from police activity in August 2025, when officers stopped a vehicle being driven by Cumar near Lydney in the Forest of Dean after observing what was described as suspicious behaviour. He was detained for the purpose of a search, during which officers located a clear plastic bag in the glove compartment containing approximately 100 individual wraps of crack cocaine.
Cumar initially provided officers with a false identity, giving the name “Kamari Gordon”. He was arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs with intent to supply. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered a lock knife, resulting in a further arrest for possession of an offensive weapon.

Officers also recovered additional items from within the vehicle, including further wraps of suspected Class A drugs, a quantity of cash contained within a rucksack, and two mobile telephones. In total, £5,030 in cash was seized. Documentation relating to the vehicle was in the name of Kamari Gordon at an address in Birmingham, although enquiries later confirmed the driver’s true identity as Cumar.
He was interviewed and released on police bail but failed to surrender to custody as required.

The court was told that a second incident occurred on the evening of 23 November 2025 in the Bream area of the Forest of Dean, when officers attempted to stop an Audi which failed to comply. A pursuit followed, during which the vehicle collided with a parked car. The driver exited the vehicle and made off on foot, evading arrest at the scene.
A search of the abandoned vehicle led to the discovery of a loaded firearm in the boot. The weapon was later identified by expert examination as a 9mm converted starting pistol that had been modified to discharge live ammunition and was capable of functioning as a lethal firearm.
Further items recovered from the vehicle included two mobile phones and quantities of suspected crack cocaine and heroin, packaged in a manner consistent with onward supply. Analysis of the mobile devices provided additional evidence of involvement in drug distribution activity.
Cumar was arrested on 28 November 2025 at an address in Shepherds Gardens, Birmingham. Forensic examination established a DNA link between him and the recovered firearm, forming part of the evidential basis for the charge of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
He subsequently pleaded guilty to all offences at an earlier hearing, and the matter proceeded to sentencing at Gloucester Crown Court, where he was ordered to serve a total term of eight years’ imprisonment.
