Former Met police officer James Murray recently charged and pleaded guilty to the offence of the possession of CS Spray, discovered along with knives in a bag at his residence. Under UK law, CS Spray is classified as a prohibited firearm, carrying a potential minimum prison sentence of six months and a maximum of ten years, along with fines.
It's worth noting that the charges of rape, ABH, and strangulation against Murray have now been dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service, citing insufficient evidence to proceed.
Despite this, Murray, suspended since August 2023 pending legal proceedings, has quietly resigned, following internal charges of misconduct among others raised against him last year.
