In a significant development, a historic rape case in Hackney has finally seen justice served, with the perpetrator, Kurt Forbes, 39, being sentenced to 11 years behind bars. Forbes was found guilty by a jury at Wood Green Crown Court of three counts of rape and one attempted rape dating back to between 1998 and 2006.
The victim, who courageously came forward more than a decade after the assaults, demonstrated immense bravery throughout the investigation and trial. Detective Constable Thomas Millard, leading the case, commended the victim's bravery and the exhaustive efforts of the investigative team in securing the conviction.
Forbes, who was located in Ilford following a thorough police manhunt, was known to the victim. Despite the passage of time, the meticulous work of law enforcement ensured that justice was served. Detective Constable Millard emphasized the seriousness with which sexual offenses are treated, underscoring the commitment of the authorities to support and pursue justice for victims, regardless of when the crimes occurred.
