🔴 Care Home Boss Jailed for Grooming Teenage Boy
Deputy care home manager Lindy Leah, 44, jailed for grooming a teenage boy & supplying drugs to residents after police probe uncovered sick abuse of trust.
A children’s home deputy manager who groomed a teenage boy in her care has been jailed after a drug-dealing probe exposed her crimes.
Lindy Leah, 44, of Capesthorne Road, Warrington, was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court to 23 months’ imprisonment for inciting a child to engage in sexual activity & for being concerned in the supply of drugs.
She was employed at the Marydale Secure Childrens Care Institution on Blackrock Road in St Helens, which had recently been awarded as outstanding rating by OFSTED and a Ministerial visit by Will Quince the Government’s children and families minister, as it was the first secure unit to achieve this rating.
Police originally began investigating Leah over the sale of cannabis resin & ketamine to youngsters living in care. It was during this probe that messages came to light revealing she had also been grooming a boy at the St Helens home where she worked, showering him with attention, money & gifts.
Jurors heard of her controlling and manipulative behaviour as she blocked his move to another placement, took him on trips alone, and sent WhatsApps promising “silky & red”, “balloons” and “flake” — references to wine, nitrous oxide and cocaine.
During the trial, jurors heard that Leah openly belittled her husband and children, telling the teenager she was “bored at home” and that her marriage was “dead.” She presented herself as trapped in family life, contrasting it with the excitement she claimed he brought her.
Her conduct around him was repeatedly described as highly inappropriate. On one occasion, she allegedly shook her breasts and belly in front of him while joking crudely about her body. On another, she gestured towards her crotch in a sexualised way. She also confiscated his phone in fits of jealousy, cutting him off from friends and family.
The victim’s mother gave a harrowing account of how Leah manipulated her son. She said Leah isolated him, downplayed his destructive behaviour, and built a toxic bond by offering money, gifts and attention. “She groomed him with fake love,” the mother told the court, “while covering for him and encouraging him to break the rules. She manipulated him, took his phone away to control him, and pretended to be the only person who cared. She was no mother to him — she was his predator.”
Her inappropriate behaviour included wearing revealing clothing and sending a string of drunken texts to the boy, with concerns raised to management. But these concerns were dismissed, while Leah continued to give the boy special attention.
The teenager’s mother broke down in court as she described the devastating effect on her son, who is still trying to come to terms with the manipulation. She said:
• “You stood there saying over & over again that you were my son’s mother. What kind of mother would do that to a child?”
• “You’re not his mother, I am & always will be.”
• “He’s only now beginning to realise the truth of what he was involved in. It will take him years to rebuild his trust & confidence.”
She accused Leah of isolating her son from both staff & family, exploiting his vulnerability & using the cover of her job to disguise her true intentions.
Prosecutors said Leah’s behaviour was a “gross breach of trust” that strayed “so far beyond professional boundaries it became criminal”.
Leah also admitted the drug supply charges, which were key to the police case against her. Her barrister told the court she suffered anxiety & depression, but the judge ruled the offending was too serious for anything other than custody.
Leah, appearing on video link from HMP Styal, showed no reaction as she was handed a 23-month term, along with a 10-year sexual harm prevention order & a 10-year restraining order banning contact with the victim & his mother.
Well, that’s all for now. But until our next article, please stay tuned, stay informed, but most of all stay safe, and I’ll see you then.
