Anton Dublin Jailed 32 Months Over Oxford Home Sexual Assault
Anton Dublin, 34, has been sentenced to 32 months in prison at Oxford Crown Court for invading a woman's home and sexually assaulting her.
A 34-year-old man left with brain damage following a high-profile crash in 2005 has been jailed for 32 months after invading a woman's home and sexually assaulting her.
Anton Dublin, of Pontefract Road, Bicester, appeared at Oxford Crown Court on Friday where he was sentenced by Judge Hasan Khan after pleading guilty to two counts of sexual assault on the first day of his trial.
In addition to the custodial sentence, Dublin was made subject to a 10-year restraining order strictly prohibiting him from contacting the victim.
The court heard that the terrifying ordeal occurred on 6 February this year when Dublin entered the victim's flat uninvited.
Once inside the residential property, the defendant targeted the woman, making a series of inappropriate sexual comments toward her before physically touching her against her will.
Prosecuting barrister Stefan Weidmann outlined the profound psychological toll the attack had taken on the victim, informing the court that Dublin's actions had a severe impact on her life.
Mr Weidmann stated that the woman was left deeply traumatised and has suffered from recurring panic attacks in the aftermath of the intrusion.
In a moving victim impact statement read aloud to the court, the woman described the lasting emotional scars, stating that Dublin had made her fear for her personal safety and that what he did to her in her own home will stay with her for a long time.
Sentencing the defendant, Judge Hasan Khan condemned the targeted nature of the attack. Judge Khan told Dublin that he had committed a very serious set of offences, emphasizing that he had deliberately targeted the victim and invaded the sanctuary of her home.
The court was also provided with details regarding Dublin's complex medical background and prior criminal record.
Dublin suffered severe brain damage following a devastating road traffic collision on Oxford's Eastern Bypass in 2005.
The court was informed that the traumatic crash left him suffering from memory loss and very short, sudden outbursts of anger.
It also emerged during proceedings that Dublin had previously been jailed in 2021 after being convicted of attacking and threatening to kill his then-girlfriend. Dublin will serve his custodial term in prison before being released under supervision.
