An Aylesbury drug dealer who attempted to evade police officers while carrying cannabis and a bladed weapon has been sentenced to five years in prison.

Ahnaf Mohi, 26, of Rowland Way, Aylesbury, appeared at Amersham Law Courts on Monday, 12 October, where he was jailed after pleading guilty to multiple drug, bladed article, and firearms offences.

The court heard that officers from Thames Valley Police's Buckinghamshire Proactive Team observed Mohi engaging in a suspected drug transaction in Aylesbury on 2 June.

When officers approached him, Mohi fled on foot along Chesterfield Place, triggering a pursuit. During the chase, he threw a bladed weapon into a nearby garden before being detained by officers.

A subsequent search of his person revealed a quantity of cannabis.

Further enquiries led police to execute a search of Mohi's home address, where officers discovered an Ekol Viper three-inch chamber-venting blank-firing revolver, alongside a zombie knife and a sword.

Mohi was arrested on 2 June and charged the following day. He subsequently entered guilty pleas to two counts of possession of a Class B controlled drug, namely cannabis and cannabis resin, one count of possession of a knife or sharp-pointed article in a public place, and one count of possession of a firearm measuring less than the legal length limit.

At Amersham Law Courts, Mohi was handed a five-year custodial sentence. Under relevant legislation, offenders receiving the mandatory minimum sentence for specified firearm offences must serve the full five-year term prior to parole eligibility.

Speaking after the sentencing, investigating officer PC Foster, of the Buckinghamshire Proactive Team, stated that drug dealing brings direct harm to local communities and fuels wider criminality.

He added that the proactive work of officers in Aylesbury ensured Mohi was swiftly identified, arrested, and brought before the courts, noting that the custodial sentence should serve as a clear warning to those involved in illegal drug supply and the possession of prohibited weapons and firearms.
