Afghan Asylum Seeker Jailed for 15 Years for Raping Girl, 12
During the proceedings, the prosecution described Mulakhil’s attempt to claim the encounter was consensual and initiated by the victim as "revolting," noting a total lack of remorse or reflection on his part.
12-year-old raped in Nuneaton park by laughing Afghan asylum seeker who filmed attack – case that triggered anti-immigration protests ends with lengthy prison sentence.
An Afghan national who abducted and raped a 12-year-old girl in Nuneaton has been sentenced to 15 years in prison at Warwick Crown Court.
Ahmad Mulakhil, 23, appeared before Judge Kristina Montgomery KC on Friday following his conviction for the rape of a child under 13 and child abduction.
The sentence, which includes an additional 12 months on licence, follows a trial in February where a jury also found Mulakhil guilty of two counts of sexual assault and one count of taking an indecent video of the victim.

The court heard that Mulakhil had previously entered a guilty plea to a separate count of rape at an earlier hearing in November 2025, though he was acquitted of one further count of rape following jury deliberations.
The offences took place on 22 July 2025 after Mulakhil, an asylum seeker who had been in the United Kingdom for four months, encountered the victim at a local park.
Evidence presented during the trial included doorbell and CCTV footage which captured Mulakhil questioning the girl about her age; while she claimed to be 19, the prosecution argued that her true age was apparent.
Judge Montgomery KC noted that the defendant’s reaction to the victim's claim was "incredulous" and stated that the jury’s verdict left no doubt he was aware she was under the age of 16.

Following the encounter, Mulakhil led the child to a patch of grass near an older persons’ complex where the attacks occurred, part of which the defendant recorded on a mobile device.
The victim reported that she told her attacker to stop, but he continued the assault while laughing, before later taking her to a shop to buy a drink, from which she managed to flee and alert authorities.
