Tommy Robinson arrested at Luton Airport after returning from Faro, following alleged GBH at St Pancras station — bailed as police investigation continues.

Tommy Robinson has been bailed after being arrested at London Luton Airport in connection with an alleged assault at St Pancras International station which left a 64-year-old man hospitalised with head injuries.

The 42-year-old political activist, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, was detained by officers from the British Transport Police shortly after 6:30pm on Monday 4 August, following his return to the UK on an incoming flight from Faro, Portugal.

His arrest came one week after a video circulated online showing Robinson at the scene of the alleged incident, which occurred in a walkway towards the Thameslink concourse at St Pancras on the evening of Monday 28 July.

In the footage, Robinson is seen pacing the station with a man lying motionless nearby. No footage has emerged showing how the injury occurred, and BTP have confirmed that enquiries into the full circumstances are ongoing.

Police sources have since confirmed that following the alleged assault, the injured party was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, and was discharged later that week.

Robinson left the UK early on Tuesday 29 July, travelling to Tenerife before later arriving in Faro. He was listed as wanted on the Police National Computer, but due to a border control loophole, was not intercepted before leaving the country.

Officers were waiting at Luton Airport upon his return and carried out the arrest on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, an offence under the Offences Against the Person Act 1861, which carries a maximum sentence of five years on conviction under section 20.
