West Midlands Police have launched a thorough investigation into two separate incidents of sexual assault that occurred within a week at Swanswell Park. The victims, both 18-year-old women, have been left deeply distressed following the attacks.
In the most recent incident on Saturday, January 27, just before 1 am, a man approached an 18-year-old woman near the park's entrance and sexually assaulted her. A friend of the victim heard her call for help, and upon approaching, the assailant fled in the direction of Stoney Stanton Road.
This incident follows a similar assault that took place at around 12:40 am on Sunday, January 21, where another 18-year-old woman was approached from behind and sexually assaulted. In this case, the victim fought back, causing the perpetrator to flee.
The suspect in both incidents is described as a man aged between 20 and 30 years old, with a height ranging from 5ft 4in to 5ft 9in, and of a slim build. West Midlands Police emphasise their commitment to tackling violence against women and girls, prioritising the well-being of the victims throughout the investigation.
