"Organised Crime B'ham: Father and Son Guilty of Birmingham Murder Plot"

In a chilling act of revenge, a father and son have been found guilty of conspiracy to murder after plotting to kill a man in Birmingham. Mohammed Aslam, 56, and Mohammed Nazir, 30, both of Elms Avenue, Derby, orchestrated the plan following a violent dispute at a Birmingham clothing store in 2018 that left them injured.

The incident, driven by a desire for vengeance, escalated as Aslam and Nazir targeted the store owner or one of his family members. On September 7, 2019, their victim narrowly escaped death when a gun jammed as he was threatened outside his South Yardley home. Undeterred, the duo sent threatening messages and shot at the victim's house three times when he refused to meet them.

Detectives connected Aslam and Nazir to the crime through phone records, CCTV footage, and financial investigations, revealing their meticulous preparations. Further complicating their criminal profile, both men were under investigation by Derbyshire police for firearms importation. This collaborative effort between Derbyshire and West Midlands Police culminated in a trial at Birmingham Crown Court.

Last week, Nazir was convicted of conspiracy to murder, possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, perverting the course of justice, and illegally importing firearms. Aslam, though cleared of a firearms charge, was found guilty of conspiracy to murder.

Det Insp Matt Marston remarked on the complexity of the case, highlighting the duo's extensive efforts to avoid implication. He praised the police work that ultimately secured their convictions. Derbyshire Police emphasized the grave nature of their actions, noting the fortunate circumstances that prevented a fatal outcome.

Aslam and Nazir are set to be sentenced on August 9, facing significant repercussions for their elaborate and dangerous scheme.
