🔴 Old Park Lane Murder: Lily Whitehouse Hit By Van
Shocking new CCTV shows the moment a van mounted the pavement before 19-year-old Lily Whitehouse was found dead in Oldbury — Mohammed Azim, 41, faces a murder charge.
Police have released further details about the investigation into the death of 19-year-old Lily Whitehouse, who was found fatally injured in Oldbury last Wednesday night (5 November).
Emergency services were called to Park Street just before 9.50 pm after reports of a woman with serious injuries. Despite the efforts of paramedics, Lily was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers have now confirmed that they believe Lily was struck by a vehicle on Old Park Lane, shortly before she was found nearby. A 41-year-old man, believed to have been known to her, has been charged with murder and remanded in custody. He is due to appear before Wolverhampton Crown Court in December.
Detectives have released an image of a Mercedes Sprinter vehicle recovery van, which they believe may be connected to the investigation. The CCTV image shows the large flat-bed vehicle partly mounted on the pavement as it travels at speed along Old Park Lane between 9.20 pm and 9.45 pm.
Police are appealing for anyone who saw the van, or who has dashcam footage from the area at that time, to come forward.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said
“We understand Lily Whitehouse was hit by a vehicle on Old Park Lane and later found with serious injuries on Park Street.
We continue to appeal for information, particularly about the van pictured. If you saw it, or have any footage, please contact us.”
Information can be given via Live Chat on the West Midlands Police website, by calling 101, or by submitting images and footage through the Major Incident Public Portal, quoting log 5978 of 5 November.
A scene remained in place following the incident while forensic work was carried out. Police say enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of Lily’s death.
