
Manchester Airport Attack - Retrial Update
Trial begins on Monday 13 April for brothers accused of allegedly attacking an armed police officer at Manchester airport pay station as Liverpool Crown Court expects a five-week hearing.
The trial of two brothers charged with assaulting an armed police officer occasioning actual bodily harm during a confrontation at Manchester Airport is set to begin tomorrow at Liverpool Crown Court.
The trial had initially been listed to begin on April 7; however, legal issues arose which required a separate preliminary hearing. We apologise for the limited coverage to date. Mohammed Fahir Amaaz, 21, and Muhammad Amaad, 26, both of Tarnside Close, Rochdale, deny assaulting PC Zachary Marsden during an incident at the pay station at the Terminal 2 car park on July 23, 2024.
The defendants have each entered not guilty pleas to a single count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, a charge which relates to allegations that force was used against PC Marsden during the encounter.

A pre-trial review took place before His Honour Judge Neil Flewitt KC at Liverpool Crown Court on April 9, at which administrative matters were addressed. Details of those discussions cannot be reported.
The court heard that the proceedings are expected to last approximately five weeks.
Paul Greaney KC appears for the prosecution. Mohammed Fahir Amaaz is represented by Imran Khan KC, while Muhammad Amaad is defended by Choe Gardner.
