Birmingham Mechanic Jailed for 22 Years After Gang Gunman Killed with Skorpion Submachine Gun

A mechanic has been jailed for 22 years for the manslaughter of a man who was executed with a military-grade submachine gun at a Birmingham industrial estate.
Theo Bailey, 34, was sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court following a complex investigation into the death of 31-year-old Gavin Parry. A second man, Dante Kalsi, 29, was sentenced to three years in prison for his role in launching a deliberate cover-up to conceal the crime from emergency services.
The fatal shooting occurred at approximately 5:19 pm on April 13, 2021, at the City Industrial Estate on Western Road in Winson Green, Birmingham.
The court heard that Mr Parry, who anonymous sources stated was a prominent member of the notorious Handsworth-based Burger Bar Boys gang, initially arrived at Bailey's industrial unit riding a quad bike. While at the site, he became embroiled in a heated argument with individuals present.

Following the dispute, Mr Parry left the scene but returned less than 30 minutes later heavily armed and seeking a secondary confrontation. Closed-circuit television (CCTV) captured Mr Parry running through the industrial estate wearing a ballistic vest and brandishing a Second World War-style STEN machine gun.
However, before Mr Parry could enter the unit or discharge his weapon, he was met with a "hail of gunfire" and shot twice in the head. Though fatally injured, he managed to crawl a short distance into the front garden of a residential property located just off the Great Cambridge Road before collapsing.
A forensics and ballistics expert concluded that the fatal injuries were inflicted by a Skorpion submachine gun. Despite extensive police searches following the incident, neither the fatal Skorpion submachine gun nor Mr Parry's undischarged STEN machine gun have ever been recovered by authorities.
The prosecution established that a deliberate trap had been set for Mr Parry, which included sabotaging evidence before he even returned to the site. Prior to the shooting, Bailey and Kalsi intentionally disconnected the industrial unit's active CCTV system to ensure the execution would not be recorded.

Despite their efforts, additional security footage captured from the wider industrial estate exposed the plot. The external cameras filmed Kalsi removing a concealed, long item—believed by investigators to be one or both of the firearms used in the confrontation—directly from Bailey's unit after the shots were fired.
Following the shooting, Bailey placed a false 999 call to emergency services. During the call and subsequent initial interactions with responding police officers, Bailey actively misled investigators regarding the circumstances of the shooting and lied about the status of the unit's CCTV system. However, police later recovered a hidden hard drive at the site which contained the relevant internal footage.
Kalsi was arrested by West Midlands Police in June 2021. During a search of his address, officers discovered five unfired bullets compatible with a Skorpion submachine gun, a digital screenshot of a police press release concerning the murder and a history of internet searches related to firearm conversion.
Both men stood trial during a four-week hearing at Birmingham Crown Court in November 2025.

Theo Bailey, of Victoria Road, Soho, was convicted of manslaughter by the jury. On July 6, he was sentenced to 22 years in prison.
Dante Kalsi, of no fixed address, was acquitted by the jury of murder and manslaughter. He was instead convicted of perverting the course of justice and sentenced to three years in prison.
Following the sentencing hearing, Detective Chief Inspector Jim Mahon of West Midlands Police condemned the actions of the two defendants and highlighted the calculated nature of the killing.
"Gavin Parry was killed in broad daylight after a trap was set, meaning that he would be shot upon his return.
"Bailey and Kalsi took deliberate steps to disable CCTV to conceal the crime."
