🔴 17 YEAR OLD BOY CHARGED WITH FATAL STABBING OF YASSIN ALAMA
Following a successful manhunt by West Midlands Police for 17-year-old Oumar Traore in connection with the fatal stabbing of Yassin Alama, a 17-year-old boy has now been charged with murder.
The teenager, who cannot be named due to his age, was arrested at a house in Birmingham on Sunday after detectives spent several days attempting to trace Traore, who had been publicly identified as the prime suspect. Officers had circulated Traore’s photograph across the region and warned the public not to approach him during the search.
Yassin Alama, 19, suffered fatal stab wounds during what police described as a violent street attack on Hutton Road, Handsworth, shortly after 5.20pm on Sunday 16 November. Paramedics attended within minutes but Yassin was pronounced dead at the scene.
An 18-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has since been released on bail while enquiries continue.
West Midlands Police confirmed that Yassin’s family have been informed of the charge and are being supported by specialist officers. The 17-year-old accused has been remanded to appear before Birmingham Youth Court as the investigation progresses.
