Two 12-year-old boys have been found guilty of the murder of Shawn Seesahai, 19, in Wolverhampton.
Two 12-year-old boys have been found guilty of the murder of Shawn Seesahai, 19, in Wolverhampton.
Seesahai was fatally stabbed on the evidence of 13 November in an unprovoked attack by the youngsters while he and a friend were waiting for another friend in a park Wolseley Road.
Despite efforts by emergency services, he was declared dead at the scene. The boys were arrested the following evening, with evidence linking them to the crime, including a machete and blood-stained clothing.
Seesahai had moved to the UK from the British Oversees Territory of Anguilla in the Caribbean for eye surgery. Shawn's devastated family traveled from Anguilla for the trial.
Jonathan Roe, senior crown prosecutor for CPS West Midlands, said: “This was a horrifying and random act of brutality, perpetrated by two 12-year-olds who should not have been spending their time arming themselves with a machete and preparing to take a life."
Convicted at Nottingham Crown Court, the boys will be sentenced later. We will keep you updated.
