
Delivery Driver Tanveer Singh Convicted of Smethwick Murder
A 32-year-old delivery driver has been convicted of murder following the fatal assault of a woman in Smethwick.
Tanveer Singh, of Leopard Lane, West Bromwich, was found guilty by a jury following a two-week criminal trial.
The defendant is scheduled to return to court for sentencing on 27 May following the final disposal of the fact-finding stage.
The prosecution evidence demonstrated that Singh targeted 41-year-old Shara Millar during the early hours of 11 August last year.
A forensic post-mortem examination later confirmed that the primary cause of death was strangulation.

A member of the public discovered the victim's body with head injuries on the pavement of Woodburn Road shortly after 06:00.
CCTV enquiries conducted by the Homicide Unit tracked a white commercial sprinter van arriving at the location at approximately 01:00.
Surveillance footage captured the vehicle's occupant removing the victim from the rear of the van at 01:30 and leaving her on the pavement.
The individual was also observed splashing and shaking an unidentified liquid over the body in an attempt to remove forensic traces.

Investigators established that the vehicle was registered to a rental company and utilised as a business vehicle for parcel delivery.
Further tracking showed the van travelling along Soho Road in Handsworth and Victoria Road earlier that evening.
The victim was recorded entering the front passenger side of the delivery vehicle prior to the fatal attack.
The court heard that Singh had been consuming alcohol at a public house before visiting the area to seek out sex workers.

The defendant was subsequently identified as the individual in sole possession of the delivery van at the time of the offence.
West Midlands Police officers arrested the suspect inside a vehicle intercepted near his residential address.
Detective Inspector Joe Davenport confirmed that fast-paced technical analysis of local surveillance networks was crucial to securing the murder conviction.
The defendant remains remanded in custody pending his formal sentencing hearing at the conclusion of the month.
