🔴 Sick & Vulgar man who sexually assaulted young woman on the Central Line Is jailed
A 22-year-old man who carried out a sexual assault on a young woman aboard a Central line train has been jailed for 16 months following a hearing at Snaresbrook Crown Court.
Rohan Uddin, born 12 October 2003, of Bedford Road, Tottenham, London N15, targeted the lone female passenger as the eastbound service approached Marble Arch station shortly after 9pm on 29 April this year.
Prosecutors told the court that Uddin sat beside the woman in her twenties in an otherwise sparsely occupied carriage before touching her intimately and then masturbating in full view.
The victim, fearing for her safety, moved away but managed to capture a clear mobile phone image of her assailant as the train continued its journey.
That single photograph proved decisive.
British Transport Police circulated the image, identified Uddin and placed a marker against his name on the Police National Computer.
Two months later, in June, the Metropolitan Police arrested Uddin on an unrelated matter and the flag triggered his detention for the Tube offence.
WhileUddin then assaulted two custody officers during processing, adding further charges to the case.
On sentencing day, Judge Oscar Del Fabbro described the train incident as the act of a vulgar and sickening individual and imposed a total custodial term of 16 months.
Uddin must also pay a £187 victim surcharge.
In addition, the court granted a ten-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order with strict conditions that prohibit him from:
• Initiating conversation or any form of engagement with females unknown to him while on public transport or in stations
• Boarding or travelling on any train, Tube or bus while under the influence of alcohol or drugs
• Placing his hands inside his clothing to touch his genitals while on board any train
• Travelling on the rail or Underground network without a valid ticket
Detective Constable Elaine Sexton-Thomas of British Transport Police welcomed the outcome.
She stated that the victim’s courage in reporting the matter immediately to staff and providing the vital image had enabled officers to remove a dangerous offender from the network.
The officer added that the lengthy order and custodial sentence should serve as a clear warning that all reports of sexual offences on the transport system are treated with utmost seriousness and victims will be fully supported throughout investigations.
