West Midlands Police have launched an urgent manhunt for 17-year-old Oumar Traore, naming him as the prime suspect wanted in connection with the fatal stabbing of 19-year-old Yassin Alama in Birmingham.
The teenager is being sought for questioning over the murder, which occurred on Hutton Road, Handsworth, at approximately 5.20pm on Sunday 16 November.
Yassin Alama suffered fatal knife wounds during what detectives have described as a violent street attack and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Officers from the force’s homicide unit made repeated attempts to locate and detain Traore in the immediate aftermath of the incident but those efforts proved unsuccessful, prompting the public appeal issued on Monday 17 November.

A photograph of the wanted teenager has been circulated alongside warnings that members of the public must not approach him under any circumstances.
Detective Inspector Jenny Birch, leading the investigation for West Midlands Police homicide team, stated: “This was a violent attack in the street which has resulted in the death of Yassin.
“We need to find and arrest Traore as soon as possible.
“If anyone sees him, or has information about where he might be, they should call us straight away on 999, quoting log 3135 of 16 November.”

To bolster the search and maintain order, enhanced stop-and-search powers under Section 60 have been authorised across a designated area encompassing Handsworth, Lozells, Handsworth Wood, Witton and parts of Nechells.
The order, granting officers the ability to conduct searches without reasonable suspicion, came into effect at 4pm on Monday 17 November and remains active until 7am on Tuesday 18 November.
