đ´ Six Jailed For 167 Years Over âPlanned Executionâ Fatal Shooting In West Kensington
Six men have been jailed for 167 years after the planned execution-style shooting of 21-year-old Janayo Lucima on his doorstep in West Kensington.
Six young men who carried out the cold-blooded shooting of 21-year-old Janayo Lucima on his own doorstep have been jailed for a combined 167 years.
The group were sentenced at the Old Bailey on Friday, 5 September 2025, after a jury convicted them of murder earlier this summer. The trial heard how the killing, in Comeragh Road, West Kensington, was a âplanned and organised executionâ linked to a drugs dispute.
Despite fleeing to Scotland, Spain and Morocco in an attempt to evade capture, each of the six was eventually tracked down and brought before the courts.
The killing
At around 10.15pm on Monday, 1 April 2024, Mr Lucima was lured to his front door by a phone call pretending to set up a drug deal.
As he stepped outside, he was shot once in the chest by Mohammed Mansaray, 18 (06.01.07), of Neasden Lane, Dollis Hill. The bullet proved fatal, and despite frantic efforts from paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The court heard that Khuder Al-Kurdi, 23 (28.08.02), of Fulham Palace Road, Fulham, orchestrated the attack from his home, phoning the victim while updating his accomplices on Comeragh Road. CCTV captured the other five changing clothes, concealing weapons and waiting for Al-Kurdiâs signal.
Moments before the shooting, Mansaray was seen practising raising the handgun, while others carried knives to reinforce the attack.
Detectives later described the killing as ruthless, giving Mr Lucima âno chance to defend himselfâ.
The investigation
A murder inquiry was launched within minutes. CCTV, phone data and forensic evidence quickly identified the group.
Several of the defendants attempted to flee abroad:
- Mansaray and Muktar Said, 24 (18.07.01), of Franklin Square, West Kensington, travelled to Scotland and were arrested in Glasgow on 6 April 2024.
- A 17-year-old boy from SW6, extradited from Spain, was arrested on 7 June 2024.
- Issa Siteri, 19 (16.09.05), of Elm Park Gardens, Chelsea, and Yusuf Muhudin Abdi, 19 (15.09.05), of Bourne Terrace, Westbourne Green, flew to Morocco but were detained on their return to the UK on 8 June 2024.
All six were convicted of murder on 15 July 2025 following a trial at the Old Bailey.
Sentences
On Friday, the six were jailed for life with the following minimum terms:
- Khuder Al-Kurdi â 33 years
- Muktar Said â 29 years
- Mohammed Mansaray â 27 years
- [Name withheld], 17, from SW6 â 22 years
- Issa Siteri â 28 years
- Yusuf Muhudin Abdi â 28 years and 6 months
A combined total of 167 years must be served before they can be considered for release.
The jury could not reach a verdict on two further defendants â a man and a teenager â and a retrial is scheduled for 2026.
Family heartbreak
In a statement read in court, Mr Lucimaâs mother, Winifred Ayo, spoke of her devastation:
âI miss my son and think about him all the time. I miss his hugs. I miss his smell. I miss his laughs. I miss his perfect smile.
Janayo was full of dreams. But he was heartlessly taken away from us by a group of self-centred young men, steeped in an urban sub-culture of violence, with complete disregard for the worth of human life.â
She added:
âNo amount of sentence will bring Janayo back. I hope one day his killers will find it in their hearts to give me the reason why they went to such lengths to kill him. I will never be at peace.â
Police response
Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie, who led the investigation, praised the familyâs dignity:
âThey listened to every harrowing detail of the traumatic events of the night he was killed and remained dignified throughout.
We may never know the exact reason Janayo was killed, but this was not a random attack. It was meticulously planned. With joint participation comes joint responsibility.â
Well, thatâs all for now. But until our next article, please stay tuned, stay informed, but most of all stay safe, and Iâll see you then.
