🔴 PARADE CAR ATTACKER JAILED FOR 21 YEARS 6 MONTHS
Paul Doyle has today been sentenced to 21 years’ 6 months imprisonment at Liverpool Crown Court after admitting driving his car into crowds celebrating Liverpool FC’s Premier League victory parade, injuring more than 130 people. Doyle, 54, a former Royal Marine from Croxteth, pleaded guilty to 31 offences relating to 29 victims, including multiple counts of causing and attempting grievous bodily harm with intent, wounding with intent, dangerous driving and affray.
Passing sentence, the court heard how Doyle deliberately drove his Ford Galaxy into packed streets during the celebrations in May, with eight children among those injured. Judge Andrew Menary KC imposed the sentence following a two day hearing.
During sentencing Judge Menary said:
the offences you have admitted were not the result of momentary recklessness or a panicked reaction. The truth, as captured on your own dash cam and multiple CCTV and mobile phone recordings, is that you lost your temper in a rage, determined to force your way through the crowd regardless of the consequences. By your plea of guilty you admit that you intended to cause serious harm to achieve that end.
Doyle will serve 2/3 of the sentence - around 14 years - in prison before being eligible for parole.
