🔴 ‘OPPORTUNIST’ BURGLAR CAUGHT ON CCTV JAILED FOR 3 YEARS
CCTV trapped Shepperton night prowler Raymond Agyemangrr-Gyamfi after a string of break-ins — now the career burglar faces three years behind bars.
A man described by police as an “opportunist” burglar has been jailed for three years following a series of offences across Shepperton. Raymond Agyemang-Gyamfi, 44, was sentenced at Guildford Crown Court on Monday, 15 September, after admitting two counts of burglary and three counts of attempted burglary.
The court heard that in the early hours of Thursday, 29 May, Agyemang-Gyamfi entered a property at around 1.45am and stole several power tools together with approximately £400 in cash. CCTV then placed him at a neighbouring address where he was seen testing a garage door handle and moving around the garden before leaving without success.
A week later he targeted another home repeatedly. In the early hours of 1 June, he gained access through a rear door but was forced out by the family dog. Later that same day he returned but was prevented from entering the garden due to a locked gate. On 3 June at 4.30am, CCTV captured him once more at the same address, attempting to lift a side gate before again being deterred by the dog.
Officers investigating circulated images from the CCTV footage, which led to Agyemang-Gyamfi being stopped at around 10pm on 3 June in Shepperton High Street. He was arrested on suspicion of burglary and attempted burglary and taken into custody. During interview, he admitted his identity in the images and conceded that he had taken items from one of the properties, later selling them at a London market. He described his actions as “opportunist” and said he had a “curiosity” about what could be found inside the homes he entered.
Passing sentence, the judge imposed three years’ imprisonment. The case was led by Surrey Police’s Proactive Investigations Team. PC Rebecca Clarke, who headed the inquiry, noted the repeated targeting of the same address and the role of CCTV in securing the arrest. She confirmed that the investigation underlined Surrey Police’s continuing focus on pursuing burglary suspects and ensuring such cases are brought swiftly before the courts.
Well, that’s all for now. But until our next article, please stay tuned, stay informed, but most of all stay safe, and I’ll see you then.
