Nigel Farage Secures Victory for Reform UK in Clacton By-Election
Reform UK leader Nigel Farage secures a decisive victory in the Clacton by-election, returning to Parliament after a long ballot count.
Nigel Farage has secured a decisive victory in the Clacton by-election, cementing his return to Parliament and delivering a historic result for Reform UK.
Following an overnight count at Clacton Leisure Centre, election officials confirmed a commanding majority for Farage over his rival candidates.
The official declaration came after hours of meticulous processing as counting staff navigated the record three-foot ballot paper required to accommodate all 34 contenders.
However, Farage was notably absent from the podium during the official announcement, having informed supporters at a separate Reform UK event that he would not attend the count.
Addressing his team, Farage declared he was "damned if I am going to stand on a stage, having won a resounding victory... and be demeaned and humiliated by nobodies."

He added that Essex Police had warned him of an "organised campaign to disrupt and degrade the result" as the primary reason for avoiding the venue.
Meanwhile, satirical candidate Count Binface emerged as the primary runner-up after major political parties opted to boycott the contest.
Benefiting from an anti-Farage tactical voting campaign, the self-described space warrior secured second place following a high-profile campaign promising 99p Flake ice creams, £1.99 bus fares and a pledge to fill local potholes with discarded political manifestos.
Despite the logistical hurdles caused by the unprecedented size of the ballot paper, counters worked through the night to verify and tally votes sealed across the constituency's 51 polling stations.
