🔴 POSTCODE TERROR: TEEN TRIO JAILED FOR BRUTAL PARK STABBING
Three youths who demanded to know if a boy was “from the area” carried out a brutal knife attack in a Birmingham park, leaving a teenager fighting for his life after hours of surgery.
Three teenagers have been jailed for a combined total of almost 13 years after admitting a vicious stabbing of a 15-year-old boy in a Birmingham park, an attack which left the victim requiring hours of emergency surgery
The assault took place in Morris Park, off Raymond Road in Alum Rock, in March last year, when Ibrahim Ishfaq, Mohammed Hasan and a 17-year-old who cannot be named for legal reasons confronted the teenager during the evening
The court heard the victim was asked whether he was from the area and, after replying that he was not, was pinned against a metal fence
He was repeatedly punched and kicked before being stabbed several times to his back, shoulder and torso
The three defendants then fled the park, leaving the boy seriously injured
Despite his wounds, the victim managed to make his way out of the park and flag down a member of the public, who immediately called 999
He was taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital, where surgeons carried out around eight hours of emergency surgery to repair multiple stab injuries
He continues to recover from his injuries
West Midlands Police’s Major Crime Unit launched an investigation, speaking to witnesses and carrying out extensive trawls of CCTV footage from the surrounding area
All three teenagers were arrested, charged and later pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
They were sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court on Tuesday, December 23
Ishfaq, of Edmund Road, Alum Rock, was sentenced to four years and 10 months in custody.
Hasan, of Gowan Road, Alum Rock, received a sentence of three years and two months.
The 17-year-old co-defendant was also sentenced to four years and 10 months.
A fourth man, Idris Urfan, of Monk Road in Ward End, was arrested as part of the same investigation and was sentenced to one year in prison after admitting assisting an offender.
Following sentencing, Detective Inspector Francis Nock said: “This was a shocking, violent attack”
“Our team worked extensively on the case to identify the suspects and bring them into custody and finally before the courts”
“We want to send out a clear message that we won’t tolerate people who use weapons on our streets and demonstrate violence such as we have seen in this case”
“If you behave in this manner we will arrest and charge you and bring you before the courts, and the sentences handed out here show how seriously it will be taken”.
