🔴 BIRMINGHAM GUN DUO JAILED AFTER POLICE CHASE AND ARREST
Armed Birmingham duo caught by police helicopter, shotgun recovered, cash & knives seized, jailed for serious firearms offences under Operation Target. Two men have been jailed following a police operation that uncovered firearms offences in Birmingham.
Adnan Haider, 21, and Dayyaan Mahmood, 19, were sentenced after an incident on 21 February this year, when they were observed inside a vehicle on Raymond Road, handling a firearm.
The pair were tracked by police with the support of the National Police Air Service (NPAS) and local officers following reports of suspicious activity.
As the helicopter monitored the area, Haider and Mahmood left the scene in a car, discarding several items before being stopped by officers.
Police recovered the discarded items, which included a shotgun, mobile phones, cash and car keys, forming the basis of the subsequent arrests.
Mahmood, from Dereham Close, Birmingham, pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm and possession of a knife and was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment on 10 October.
Haider, of Nansen Road, Birmingham, initially denied the charges but following a one-week trial was convicted of possession of a firearm, possession of a knife, driving while disqualified, and driving without insurance.
He received a seven-year custodial sentence on the same day.
