The court heard that at around 6am a silver Mercedes E-Class collided with the Ford Focus before a red Ford Fiesta joined the scene, trapping the damaged vehicle. Several men then got out of the Mercedes and Fiesta and attacked men who had been travelling in the Ford Focus.
During the incident, weapons including swords, machetes and metal scaffolding poles were used as violence broke out in the street.
Police officers were called to the scene and the men fled on hearing approaching sirens. Officers pursued the suspects, and after a short foot chase four men were arrested with the assistance of police dog Ray.
An investigation by West Midlands Police’s Major Crime Unit followed, involving forensic examinations and the analysis of CCTV footage, which identified those involved.
Detective Constable Sophie Evason, of West Midlands Police’s Major Crime Unit, said: “These four men thought it was ok to carry out a violent attack in the middle of a street with no regard for the public.
“Their violent actions were completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
“We carried out an extensive investigation to identify those involved and thankfully these four men will be spending time behind bars.”
