Anthony Williams Train Stabbing Trial Date Delayed to October
Trial Set for Cambridgeshire Train Mass Stabbing Suspect
A provisional trial date has been formally set for a man accused of multiple counts of attempted murder following an alleged mass stabbing on a passenger train in Cambridgeshire.
Anthony Williams, 32, of Langford Road, Peterborough, faces a total of 21 charges, which include 13 counts of attempted murder. The Crown alleges that the defendant carried out a series of attacks across Peterborough, Stevenage, and London, culminating in a major incident on a train on Saturday, November 1.
At a hearing at Cambridge Crown Court, Judge Mark Bishop moved the trial date from June 22 to October 26. The court heard that the original date could no longer be met as the court awaits further pre-trial reports. The defendant did not appear in court for the latest hearing and remains remanded in custody.

The Crown alleges that shortly after an LNER service from Doncaster to London King's Cross departed Peterborough on November 1, the defendant attempted to murder 10 people on board.
Passengers and staff reportedly raised the alarm, prompting the train to make an unscheduled stop at Huntingdon. Armed police met the service at the station, where the defendant was arrested. It is confirmed that all 11 people who received treatment at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge following the alleged incident have since been discharged.
In connection with the Huntingdon train arrest, the defendant faces the following charges:
- Ten counts of attempted murder.
- Possession of a bladed article.
- Actual bodily harm, relating to the alleged assault of a police officer while in custody.
Further Alleged Offenses
In addition to the Huntingdon train incident, the prosecution has outlined further charges spanning October 31 and November 1.

It is alleged that prior to the train incident, the defendant was involved in a series of other offenses across multiple locations.
These additional charges include:
- October 31 (Peterborough): Attempted murder of a 14-year-old boy at Henry Penn Walk; attempted murder of a 22-year-old man at Rail World Car Park; attempted wounding with intent of a 28-year-old man at Henry Penn Walk; possession of a bladed instrument in a public place at Henry Penn Walk; and affray in connection with an alleged incident at Ritzy Barbers in Queen's Walk, Fletton.
- October 31 (Stevenage): Theft of knives from an Asda supermarket.
- November 1 (London/Bedfordshire): Attempted murder and possessing a bladed article after a man allegedly suffered facial injuries at the Pontoon Dock DLR station in Silvertown, East London, in the early hours; and common assault of a 31-year-old man on a train traveling between Hitchin, Hertfordshire, and Biggleswade, Bedfordshire.
All charges remain allegations at this stage until a verdict is reached. The trial will commence on October 26.
