Upon arrival law enforcement personnel and paramedic crews from the South East Coast Ambulance Service located a victim suffering from life-threatening stab wounds.
The victim, identified as a hotel staff worker in his 30s, received immediate emergency medical treatment at the scene before being rushed to hospital for critical care.
Armed officers assisted in detaining Adani at the scene, where he was initially arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and taken into police custody.
In a statement issued during the initial stages of the response Detective Superintendent Kate Hyder confirmed that armed officers were deployed to assist with the arrest and reassured the public that a heightened police presence would remain in the local area to carry out vital enquiries.
Detective Superintendent Hyder noted that the violent incident had caused understandable concern within the local community, encouraging residents to speak with local officers on patrol while detectives gathered initial evidence.
Following an intensive police investigation Adani was formally charged by Surrey Police on the evening of Sunday 16 August with one count of attempted murder.
The defendant subsequently appeared at Staines Magistrates Court on the morning of Monday 17 August for his initial remand hearing.
During the court appearance magistrates were informed that the victim remains admitted in hospital, where his condition has since stabilized and his injuries are no longer considered life-threatening.
